As an Iphone user through all the versions since the original Iphone 3G I have always been a fan. I always liked the simplicity and the fact that it always "just worked". Years of Nokia connections to a PC that made me want to throw the whole thing out of the window made me jump to the Apple bandwagon and it was great, no really it was!
However the recent release of the, lets face it, very expensive Iphone 6 and 6+ has made me rethink before just jumping into the next upgrade.
Actually the Android loving teenagers in the family have finally worn me down and the leap has to be taken, even if it is just to prove that I cant make the jump, I have to give it a try.
Research, and a load of it, it has to be said led me to the Sony Xperia Z3 as a viable alternative to the Iphone 6. The spec really surprised me too. When you look at the two of them side by side with an unbiased head the Sony has so many more plus points. You dont even have to be unbiased just look at the actual numbers.
None of the below detail is subjective, that is it is just numbers, im trying not be be biased !

So all the above is subjective, things like the iOS software vs Android and the App Store vs The Play Store can only be personal preference. If you are used to one then the other operating system will take a while to get used to and depending on your level of "tech" you may never adjust.
So no doubt there are lots of other comparisons between the two phones, but the above I believe to be accurate and the numbers dont lie. Of course I am aware that Mega Pixels alone do not make for the best camera, but it helps, particularly when zooming and cropping your pictures to have a high MP count.
So the Xperia Z3 is ordered and on its way with a 64GB "class 10" Micro SD card, a high spec screen cover and a cheap case - total £500 from Amazon.
Stay tuned for the experience, warts and all, with instructions for software conversion and some honest opinions!
You can also see two reviews BY THE SAME PERSON, one on the Macworld website and one on the supposedly unbiased PC Advisor magazine that have totally contrasting opinions about the same phones - and i say again the same person wrote them both !!
Macworld review - "In the case of this rival, however, we can't see many compelling reasons to choose the Xperia Z3 over the iPhone 6. Cameras, perhaps. Display, definitely. But although the Xperia is more robust than the iPhone it isn't as pretty, and in all other respects - including price - we'd choose the iPhone 6."
Pc Advisor - "The Xperia Z3 is ahead on almost all quantifiable metrics. That's where we would put our money, principally because of the expandable storage, better display and more robust build."
